I am delighted to invite your child to attend the WorldSkills UK Live at the NEC in Birmingham on the 22nd November 2019. WorldSkills UK Live is the UK’s largest and most effective careers fair where careers from a multitude of industries are represented. Unlike other careers fairs these are aimed at secondary schools where they have hands on interactive workshops to allow students to experience aspects of work within a particular industry.

This trip will work alongside our form time career focus to ensure students in Year 8 make informed decisions about their options subjects in the next academic year. The aim of the trip is to help students to focus on their skills and interests and identify the types of careers that might compliment and utilise these.

The cost of this trip is £17. We will depart school at 8.00am and will return to school by 5.00pm. All students will need to bring a packed lunch. If your child is eligible for free school meals, please indicate if they would like a packed lunch to be provided by the school.

We are proud of our excellent record of exemplary behaviour on trips and visits. Students will be representing our academy and we expect all to behave and act responsibly. Students must wear full school uniform for this trip. If staff have any concerns about your child’s conduct prior to the trip, their place on the visit will be reviewed.

If you know your son/daughter needs any medication (e.g. Inhalers) please ensure they bring this with them before departure – it is imperative to ensure the emergency contact and medical details we have on our system are up to date. If you know that your child suffers from travel sickness, please purchase and supply sufficient appropriate medication for the duration of the trip.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis providing both a consent form and full payment has been received. You can complete the consent form here.
