Y12 Visit to the University of Hertfordshire Wayfinder Day

  • The Thomas Alleyne Academy High Street Stevenage, England, SG1 3BE United Kingdom (map)

Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

Re: University of Hertfordshire Wayfinder Day – Friday 10th December 2021

The Widening Access and Student Success (WASS) team at the University of Hertfordshire (UH) help our students to plan and be successful in their next steps after sixth form. They offer our students a programme of events to prepare them for the year ahead, whether they are thinking of university or not.

We are delighted to invite all our Year 12 students to this very important event. The sessions will incorporate an introduction to UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service), how to choose a degree course, further sessions on budgeting and student finance and a chance to talk to undergraduate student ambassadors and lecturers.

Travel arrangements

All transport and insurance costs will be paid for by the University and students must arrive at 08.30 at Thomas Alleyne promptly for registration. We will leave Thomas Alleyne at 9.00 am to travel to the University of Hertfordshire’s de Havilland Campus in Hatfield. We will return to Stevenage by 2.30 pm, depending on traffic.

Dress code and refreshments

Please ensure all students attend in the sixth form dress code as there will be another school in attendance on the day. All students should wear their ID lanyards. We advise all students to bring their own packed lunch and refreshments/water.

We would like all students to attend please. It was disappointing to note that some students did not attend our first higher education event in London in October to help them plan their next steps after sixth form. We hope that parents will join us in encouraging their son/daughter to participate. As experienced sixth form teachers we know the stress and anxiety that students suffer in year 13 if they have not had the opportunity to carefully plan and consider their options by the end of year 12 and such events are an important part of this process. We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity to all our sixth form students, free of any additional charges.
