The curriculum at Thomas Alleyne’s ensures every student experiences an education that is broad, balanced, relevant and appropriate to their educational needs.

end of year subject summaries

Subject Summaries detail what students should know, and be able to do, at the end of the school year, and will be posted on Google Classroom.  Before the start of the new term we suggest your child uses these subject summaries as a checklist to review what they know, and to identify where there might be any gaps in their learning.

If your child identifies any gaps in their learning, or there are areas where they would like to feel more confident, we have provided a range of Knowledge Organisers for students to use. Knowledge Organisers contain details of the content your child needs to know and so can be used to help close any gaps in their knowledge.

The best way to use knowledge organisers is for students to:

  1. Read the information on the knowledge organiser (or ideally, just a section of it)

  2. Cover up the knowledge organiser

  3. Show their knowledge via a quick quiz or by providing a summary/explanation in writing or to someone else

  4. Check their answers against the knowledge organiser

There are also many online resources which students may find useful for subjects where no Knowledge Organisers are available, or if they require more information, including: MathsWatch, BBC Bitesize and online lessons from Oak National Academy.  Students may also find it useful to complete any outstanding tasks on Show My Homework.

Those parents/carers wishing to exercise this right will be invited in to see a member of the academy leadership team who will explore any concerns and discuss the impact that withdrawal may have on the child. If a student is withdrawn, all relevant colleagues must be informed of this.

THE HART SCHOOLS TRUST

The Thomas Alleyne Academy is a member of the Hart Schools Trust, a multi-academy trust working with both primary and secondary schools in Stevenage. The Trust sits within the Hart Learning Group, a charitable organisation with a mission to create social and economic value through learning. Other members of the Hart Learning Group include North Hertfordshire College and Hart Learning and Development. Across our organisation, our students can be supported on educational pathways all the way through to adulthood. Our partnership ensures staff and students benefit from shared resources, expertise and a broad range of opportunities to enrich their education.

During Sixth Form I gained connections and skills that have allowed me to be in the position I am today. The support I received from my teachers was phenomenal. I am now working at a firm of accountants studying for my ACCA.
