Achieving excellence through personal growth

Curriculum Overview

The curriculum at Thomas Alleyne’s ensures every student experiences an education that is broad, balanced, relevant and appropriate to their educational needs.

In years 7 to 9, students will study the full range of national curriculum subjects. We also focus on securing high standards of literacy and numeracy, enabling our students to be fully prepared for independent learning. As our students move through the school we strive to ensure they understand the relevance of their studies in relation to the huge range of careers available in the modern workplace. We use every available opportunity to develop our students’ character to ensure they are able to thrive in our modern world.

At The Thomas Alleyne Academy our aim is to ensure your child can develop subject mastery during their five years with us. Each department has produced a Curriculum Map to give parents/students a complete overview of what will be learnt for each term of each year whilst studying for GCSEs.

Parents/Carers have the right to withdraw their children from all or part of sex education that does not form part of the statutory National Curriculum. Those parents/carers wishing to exercise this right will be invited in to see a member of the academy leadership team who will explore any concerns and discuss the impact that withdrawal may have on the child. If a student is withdrawn, all relevant colleagues must be informed of this.

“During Sixth Form I gained connections and skills that have allowed me to be in the position I am today. The support I received from my teachers was phenomenal. I am now working at a firm of accountants studying for my ACCA.”
