Many of us are worrying about events in the news or family circumstances, it is natural to be concerned for ourselves and for our loved ones. Those of us already living with mental health problems are facing extra challenges too.
At school we have staff who are trained as Mental Health Champions and who can work with students to support them as a mentor or to offer advice and support. Mrs Hayman is the Deputy Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead at school and she works closely with students and the team to ensure that when things get difficult, there is support available.

Bereavement support at TAA
Bereavement is a sad fact of life. Every young person is unique and will cope with the death of a significant someone in their own way. There is no magic formula, but we like to have a chat with the young person to explore what we can do to help this tough time feel easier to cope with. So please, when you lose a loved one, let us know.
The best way to do this is via admin@tas.herts.sch.uk, or attendance@tas.herts.sch.uk, or by contacting Mrs Hayman directly at haymanc@tas.herts.sch.uk
Peer Mentoring
A group of volunteer Year 12Â and Year 9 students have been trained to provide peer-mentoring support to students in lower years who have been nominated by their Form Tutor/Pastoral Team who feel they might benefit from the scheme.Â
Mentors support both emotionally and academically to help students settle into secondary school. They are well able to give them some help with their studies or to discuss any school issues that may be worrying them. Mentors meet with their mentee once a week during Form time in a relaxed, supportive environment.
